Airport to Hotel Discounts

Are you planning on traveling by air to somewhere that you don't think you need a rental car, such as a downtown metropolis area? If so, spend a little time on the Internet researching your options. Many hotels offer free or reduced shuttles to and from the airport. If you are planning on getting around using your feet or via cabs, these options may be much cheaper than getting a rental car just to part it at the hotel for a few days. (In many larger city downtowns, hotels may even charge you for parking that rental car!)

If your hotel does not offer this service, do Internet searches for "CITYNAME airport shuttle", or "CITYNAME shuttle hotel", replacing CITYNAME with the city where you will be staying. Not only will this help you find options before you get to the airport (after a long flight, when you're tired, it's late, etc.), but some shuttles offer Internet-only discounts and coupons. I saved $4.00 once in Chicago just by downloading and printing a simple web page from an airport shuttle service. That's not a lot of money, but if you travel often, everything adds up!
